Balancing life is hard enough when all you have to think about is yourself. But when I think of my friends the Herricks I really look deep down inside and hastag myself #firstworldproblems. Two beautiful children, a beautiful home, and a beautiful couple comprise the family of super-humans I was privileged to photograph. Samantha makes it looks so easy being a mom of a two year old and a newborn baby boy. Her effortless style in these newborn photos doused in natural light from their Elk Grove home are reflective of what seems to be a pretty easy-going and entertaining lifestyle. I mean… a photo shoot and 2 year old birthday all in one day, and only 10 days after newborn James was born. There has to be some sort of superhero power for that! Even grandma took such beautiful carefree photos that I felt like this day was a breeze for myself while 2 year old Ava’s birthday party was going on. Well it may not be as easy as I imagine, however the Herrick family portraits are some of my favorite photographs I have every taken.

August 25, 2014 Bidwell Family Outing
Back again in Chico, California where no matter what time of year the beauty is immense. Through the dry, hot summer Bidwell Park manages to hold on to its greenery as most of it is protected by its heavily covered ivy trees that reach far up into the skies. I am so lucky to have the chance to capture their family portraits of the Milardovich family as they expand from 3 to 4. They welcomed another baby girl into their family. She has the most beautiful eyes that stand out so strikingly.
April 9, 2014 Baby Blue Eyes
Alexa’s personality is already shinning through with her adorable looks. Those many different looks she had were so cute to catch and she was already proving that one day she could be a model. Her bright blue baby eyes never left the camera lens. Alexa sure knew how to work the camera angles! Her lovely little faces were so easy to capture and she practically pushed mom to the side so that she can have her moment in the spotlight. Oh Alexa, you are going to grow up to be a heart breaker!
November 9, 2009 Real-life American Doll
I have had the pleasure of watching this delightful little girl grow up over the past years into one of the loveliest and intelligent children I have ever come across. Anna has such a deepness in her eyes which reflects in the photographs I took of her on this gorgeous fall day. A smile may be rare but the resolute look on her face just enhances her sharp personality. On our way to the farm she was quick to show me how she can count and her desire to read. Once we arrived at Willow Brook Farm in Wilton, California, she was off and running making clever observations of every animal we came across. Luckily for her she was able to go in and pet or feed many of the animals, as she was practically pushing her way through the fences.
Megan and Richard have made a beautiful family that I loved capturing on this beautiful farm. It was full of willow trees, expansive grounds, and animals of all sorts, some of which you would not expect on a working farm. Spending our time here to do the photo-shoot was very fun and wish we could have spent the entire day.
To wrap up the day we finished with a few portraits back at their home. Anna looked so adorable, almost like a living doll. I swear she should be casted into an American Doll look-a-like contest. Her eyes just penetrate through the image and played your heart strings with that charming look on her face. I so look forward to watching her blossom into a lovely girl.
